This book shop is conveniently located on Burnside and 10th Avenue. You can also shop here on the internet and this company is also independently run. This shop can only be found in Portland and offers new books in addition to used ones. This book store began small and grew over time. This book store has become one of Portland's jewels and you can find just about anything and everything here book wise.

Hot Lips Pizza

This pizza shop currently is opening another location that will be next to the PGE Park. This a pizza shop that again is independently run and owned. This shop is well-known for their Pepperoni pizza. In some cases, there are people that travel here from hours away just to have this pizza. The ingredients that are used to make the pizza and other food here is grown nearby and all pizza is freshly made when you order it. You are going to be able to watch them make it as well.

Voodoo Doughnuts

If you love doughnuts, Voodoo Doughnuts is the place for you to be. This is a small shop that is sometimes missed. People tend to drive right past it because it's a small place. It's a small hole in the wall and is located on Burnside and 3rd. This shop began being open primarily at night and as it became popular, it became a 24 hour doughnut shop. When it first opened, it was designed to feed drunken people who were leaving bars late at night. There is now another location. There are several types of doughnuts made here and there are maple bars that are a huge hit here. There are also vegan doughnuts as well as doughnuts that are covered with your favorite cereal.

Forest Park

If you happen to be travelling on a budget, Forest Park can allow you to have fun without spending a dime. This is a large park and is the largest in city limits in the entire country. This park sits on 5,000 acres of land and is home to well over 112 bird species as well as 62 different types of mammals that call Forest Park their home.

In addition to these animal types, there are also trails and one particular one is 40 miles. This trail connects various parts of the city together so you can see different things. The hours of this park are 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Rose Test Garden

If you are a rose lover, be sure to check out the Rose Test Garden. This is the only operated garden of roses in the country and is also the oldest public one. This garden is home to nearly 200 rose types and you will surely see why people call Portland the Rose City. You can enjoy this garden each day from 7:30 in the morning to 9:00.
